Goodbye for now
Everything comes to an end eventually
This is a short update to let you know that I will be winding down this Substack site after close to five years. I have had to make some difficult decisions about where I focus my writing efforts and I have decided to move away from true crime and away from Substack.
As you know I focused mainly on the Sophie Toscan du Plantier murder and it feels like 2025 was the last year of significant updates, with the Jim Sheridan film. It seems like the police review will just run forever and I am confident they will not find enough evidence to convict the killer, even if he is still alive. Also, my historical crime research is at a tidy point to pause after I published British Gangs a year ago.
Otherwise I am still active on sites I fully own. These are true email newsletter platforms with no social media element at pauldettmann.uk and americanavibes.uk and I am now switching focus to my music and film writing. My first volume of the Fleetwood Mac story should be out by Christmas, with volume two to follow in 2027.
Thank you all so much!

Sorry to see it end, but I understand. It was a pleasure chatting with you. Best of luck with your music and film writing - you write so passionately about them and they're a lot more pleasant than crime.
