According to the podcast The Missing the statistics linked to non white/ other ethnicity missing people and poor outcomes is quite stark. I’m aware of the media interest in the ‘young, blonde and white’ stereotype but do you think there is a class/cultural bias? Similarly with Ben Needham??
I will try to write something about this when I return in the autumn. There are all sorts of reasons the press jump on some cases and not others, sometimes silly things like how good a photo of the victim they can get hold of, with preference for younger white females. But I have not tried to collect hard facts about it - thanks for the idea because this is an important point that media outlets are reluctant to properly cover themselves.
I remember the Garsallah case now, thank you. I was not aware of Damien Nettles. I will look into them both. Crime Guy will be working on some new cases over the summer and resuming properly in the autumn, so watch this space!
